Curriculum

In our effort to provide efficiency and reduce costs associated with handling and distributing thousands of textbooks and other curriculum materials each year, Visions has renewed our partnership with VarsityBooks.com for curriculum purchases for both the 9-12 Independent Study Academy and Home School Academy during the upcoming school year.

The 9-12 Independent Study Academy places special emphasis on mastering knowledge and skills necessary to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) and complete graduation requirements. Core components of the 9-12 Independent Study Academy are reading, writing and computation, which are woven throughout the curriculum. Continual emphasis on language arts and mathematics assists students in meeting state content standards and strengthening literacy skills. Upon graduation from the academy, a student will be prepared to enter the world of work, transition to a vocational/technical program or enroll in community college, with the potential of earning an Associate of Arts degree and an opportunity to transfer to a four year college. All instructional materials are ordered and delivered by the student’s Credentialed Teacher (CT).
