Community Colleges

Visions In Education provides advanced education opportunities through your local community college.

We provide access to community college courses for qualified students through the Advanced Education Program. Students may take core courses, elective or technical education courses. Your Visions counselor can give you information on available courses and the process to enroll and register.

Technical Education Partnership with American River College (ARC)

Students attending Visions In Education may participate in technical education courses and college success courses provided through a partnership between ARC and Visions. Courses lead to Certifications in a variety of technical areas, including Automotive Technology, Design Technology, Automotive Collision Repair, Electronic Technology, Horticulture or Welding.

PACE Summer Institute - American River College (ARC) Partnership to Assure College Entry (PACE)

Visions In Education students may take summer courses at ARC in the PACE program, which provides coursework in English, Math and Human/Career Development. Examples of elective courses include Art, Acting and Robotics, and Electronic Technology. Students participating in the PACE program learn college-success strategies and receive the support they need to achieve their goals.

Regional Occupational Programs

ROP courses may be taken concurrently while enrolled in VIE. ROP provides hands-on occupational and technical training in a wide variety of fields, including Auto, CISCO Networking, Careers with Children, Computer Assisted Design/Drafting, Law Enforcement, Medical Assistant, Sports Therapy, Television Occupations and many more.

Project AIME (Assisting In My Education)

Students interested in attending Folsom Lake Community College may participate in Project AIME, which provides assistance to students in their transition from high school to community college through monthly meetings with community college advisers.

Additional Support Services for Students

  • Counseling Services: Available to students are on site financial aid workshops, academic support, college and career exploration and guidance, as well as assistance in the college application process.
  • Online Career Center provides a wealth of information on financial aid and scholarships, career and college exploration.
  • CHOICES Explorer: Web site helps students explore career and education options and tracks progress as they create successful plans for the future.
  • Referral Services to White House Counseling. White House Counseling Center offers low cost counseling to San Juan students and their families.
  • Cal-SAFE provides services for pregnant and parenting teens. Also available are home visits, referral services, parent education and assigned case worker support.
  • Regional Occupational Program representative available on our main site each week to answer your questions and assist you in finding the program that is right for you.
  • College Visits are available to interested students. Our Visions counselors inform students of college tours and accompanies students on the tours to help answer questions and provide support.
